Go Inside The Book 'Timing Is Everything' with this fresh
"center of the book" excerpt!
This excerpt pc. is clean, however, this is not the case with the entire book. It is a Spicy Romance story, but there is flesh to it as well.
“I explained who I was and what I was after. The guy was a little long-winded but friendly enough. I asked if I could just take pictures of the pictures with my phone and send them, but he was worried about losing image quality. His office was in the seminary at Dunwoodie, up at Yonkers. We made a date to meet there the next day.
St. Joseph’s Seminary Dunwoodie is less than twelve miles from my apartment in Manhattan, but it might as well be a world away. First of all, there’s no good way to get there by public transit. I had to change trains three times and still wound up walking better than three miles. Then, once you get there, it’s like walking into some sort of nineteenth century funeral home. It’s all dark polished wood and livered marble; even the waiting area, which although they’d tried to accent with area rugs and recessed lighting to make it seem welcoming, it felt somehow restrictive.
The receptionist called down to the archives, located in the basement once I arrived. She assured me that Mr. O’ Leary would be with me shortly and invited me to take a seat.
I fiddled with my phone and tried not to pick out the Father-What-A-Waste’s from the Thank-The Lord-He’s-Celibates as they swished back and forth in their long black cassocks. But before I could slip down that rabbit hole any further, I heard a throat clearing behind me.
Immediately I knew where I had heard that voice before. It had whispered to me just a few nights ago, “You don’t have to,” and “It’s really bad.” Nevertheless, there he was, standing straight with no obvious injuries to his leg. Unlike his clerical comrades, he was dressed in stylish dark jeans, an Oxford button down, and a stylishly tweedy jacket.
“You must be Keela?” He said brightly.
“I am. Father? Doctor?”
“Mike’ll do just fine.” And with a smile we were off.
I’ll admit, the building grew on me the further in we went. And while most of the boys in black gave a second look to the busty redhead in the low-cut dress with the insufficient wrap over her shoulders, most people just smiled and gave a friendly nod—more than you’d get on the streets in Manhattan, to be sure, or probably even in my office. It was like the further you went into the building the more intimate the space and the more lived-in it became, the less pretentious it all was. By the time we got to the library—the archives were in the basement—I was sure I’d arrived in the Great Hall at Hogwarts.
“And they let you just work here?”
Mike laughed. “I’m amazed at it some days myself.”
I leaned in close and whispered in his ear. “Are you…holy enough?”
